A Salty Story

We ran out of salt.

The Husband went to buy salt.

The salt was so white, so clean, not clumpy and each grain was of the exact same size. Too perfect?

Then, I read the fine print. Produce of China.

Errrr...

So, yesterday, The Husband bought another pack of salt. This time, the fine print is checked carefully. Made in Australia. Ok, pass.

i was given garam gula and asam when i moved to my new house.. many months later, my mum came to my house and and the garam gula asam still in original packet.. untuk tidak mengecewakan hati dia, i transferred to some containers.. and many months later she realized benda tu sikit pun tak luak... so i transferred them to those small little cute containers and gave the remaining back to her..! plus few bawang yang dah tumbuh daun dan nak jadi pokok..! haha

seri - rupa2nya, besides being a producer of pokok2 bawang, kau ni pandai jugak masak indian dishes. heh heh heh...

az - aku punya garam ni dah berzaman duduk kat rumah aku. the only reason why garam tu habis is because i used it to gargle sebab sakit tekak. kalau tak pasal tu, garam aku masih menimbun kat dalam container dia.

eity - aku pun sama. taukeh cili kering, bawang kering, halia kering (can u imagine, halia pun boleh jadi kering dalam esbok aku), bawang puteh kering dan segala bahan2 kering yang lain.

as for asam and belacan, dulu masa baru2 kawen and kononnya semangat nak masak (read: trying to create toxic waste untuk laki aku makan), asam, belacan semua aku beli. tapi selalunya, pakai sket, lepastu, one year later, baru terusik lagi si belacan tu. so, now, aku practical. kalau aku feeling nak masak apa2, all the bahan kecik2 like all the rempah, asam/belacan etc, semua aku import dari rumah mak aku. kalau aku malas pergi sana, aku beli dari kedai apek kat bawah, pastu, belen2, passing kat mak aku.

hana - no melamine lor.. tapi sifat was2 terhadap bahan2 dari china ni amat kuat sekali. the salt looks too perfect to me. and after using that salt to gargle, my throat felt worse. so, not taking any chances, babe. for now, any food products from china, no can do.
